MatrixSight 36 watt UV LED Diamond Shaped Nail lamp Review and Video

Hi everyone Ive something for you nail addicts out there!

I was recently offered this gorgeous UV LED gel nail curing lamp from MatrixSight and I jumped at the chance...just look at it; its gorgeous...so to be offered a gorgeous PINK UV gel machine really gets my pulse racing...who wouldn't want this sitting on their desk!
UV LED gel nails and polishes have made a huge comeback this year and many of us are doing our own nails at home using the amazing UV LED polishes that are available by many brands at the moment.

So I have a video review and corresponding post right below so grab a coffee and bikky, sit back and relax.

First of all some of you may not know why you would use LED/UV polishes to air dry ones; well Ill tell you, your have dry hard glossy nails in 2 minutes, no waving your hands in the air to dry (you know this doesn't work right...waving hands around wont dry them...it just stops you touching anything to smudge them lol) but it does give the nail technician a giggle.
Air dry nails are not truly dry for at least an hour or more, some are still dig-able, key scrap-able, phone scratch-able you name it they are gonna smudge for at least an hour afterwards and we are always in a hurry...right guys.
With UV LED polishes yours are cured (dried) in minutes some brands its seconds and your ready to go! They also last for weeks and your only worry is the regrowth at the back of your nail which you can re-do...fantastic right..so why ever use air dry polishes again? I wont be!

Here are some UV/LED polishes I reviewed last week, they are so beautiful and so affordable. Checkout my full video review and swatches.

My nail background history
Something you probably don't know about me is that I'm an ex-nail tech and in the 80's and 90's was learning everything I could about nails gathering my qualifications, running a mobile nail service and two full time Nail Salons. As more and more shops started selling to the general public and the increase of the internet with online purchasers not asking for qualifications, people began doing there own nails and their friends and family's mostly with little to no experience.
So I decided to go into teaching nail technology with a large nail brand; so I could hand some of my experience to the next generation, knowing in my heart of hearts it was the best thing I could do, been there and got the T-shirts (no really Ive still got the 80's T-shirts).

Anyway back to the MatrixSight UV LED gel lamp...

Recently, I got back into doing my own nails again so I was super excited to be offered...not just a UV LED gel lamp...but this gorgeous diamond shaped gel lamp...wow what a comparison to my very 1st breeze block of a gel nail lamp back in 80's.

Checkout my full unboxing, 1st impressions, and look round as well as my opinion of this gorgeous UV LED lamp.

Packaging
It arrived super fast through Amazons post as usual and in a very well packaged colorful modern looking box.

Then you slide out the polystyrene drawer and inside sits the lamp, power supply and the cable, plus of course the instructions.

Description
Without me repeating myself this is a UV and an LED lamp so you can cure both types, gel polishes and gel extensions. Unless your a professional tech you now don't need to purchase 2 different machines. This is just for me to do my nails at home so I can use this for both LED and UV curing so Im a happy bunny.
Its perfect for nail gel extensions and LED polish curing an all in one.

First of all I want to say that this is a 36 watt lamp and I feel especially if your a pro nail tech you should be looking at 36 wattage no less. I know you can get 9 watt lamps everywhere and Im sure they work fine but with lamps getting so affordable its probably not worth getting a lower wattage lamp as it reduces curing times for UV polishes and gel extensions.
You have to checkout this stunning diamond design in this AMAZING pink metallic finish and wow it doesn't get more girly than this, does it; I had fallen in love just getting it out the box.

This neat looking lamp is ideal for any mobile nail techs I would have loved this when I was doing it many moons ago as its super light.
It has a metal mirrored base plate which will help cure faster by directing the light rays directly onto your nails.

You can see here the lamp easily holds 1 hand or 1 foot and then you cure your thumbs separately.

If you turn over the lamp you will see the underside has 4 rubber feet so its not sliding anywhere across your table.

But if you look carefully you can also see 4 poppers too; these pop out and you can remove the base plate for curing your toenails too.

I think that I may have created an optical illusion, but bear with me.
The base removes easily so you don't even have to use it, but to be honest it will improve curing times by being mirrored.
It also makes it easy to clean too.

Now for feet; yep you can do your Shellac polish on your toes too and have it last for weeks. I can get my toes in the lamp easily but if you wish to look more professional the base un-pops and then you simply put your foot on a towel and sit the lamp directly over the toes without the base plate...very clever and a nice addition to this lamp.

Turning the lamp over you can see inside; the main curly lamp is your UV lamp and you then have 12 smaller LEDs. The fact the whole inside is mirrored your getting excellent lighting efficiency. You will be amazed how this cuts down curing times.
You can also see here the plastic hand guard to prevent anyone touching the bulb while in the lamp.

MatrixSight claim they are long lasting LED bulbs which provide a whopping 5 years of non-stop use. Well mine are still perfect and Ive been using this lamp 2-3 times a week as I keep changing my polish and nail art. I know Im addicted and I don't want to be CURED..pun intended!, Ha NAILED it, and again She scores, gota HAND it to me (ok, I will stop now).

Inside you can see the curly UV lamp or the CCFL light.
Otherwise known as a Cold Cathode Florescent lamp which are known for being energy saving,

Okay so to the back where all the action is...okay the buttons and the power cable.

Here you have 3 metal buttons offering 3 curing time options; 10 seconds, 30 seconds and 60 seconds. These timers will turn off after their respected times automatically.
I have found the buttons a bit clunky but they do what they should and that's what matters.

Each button has its own LED so you can see which one is on, if your a working nail tech you have full control of the buttons for your client while they simply pop their hand in and relax.
In this image the 60 second button is pressed. The bottom green LED simply shows you its on. Its orange while in standby.
It has no on/off switch but you simply press the the button that's on; to turn it off again.

Use
I have been using this gorgeous looking lamp for absolutely weeks now I love this. If you want to see this lamp working hard see my full video unboxing, 1st impressions and in use.

I have my gel nails all organized on my desk, I'm using Naio gel system...that's another review as its one of the best systems Ive ever used. It cures super fast under the lamp. The fact the lamp turns itself off for you is brilliant no smudged fingers here.

I also got the opportunity to try some beautiful UV LED polishes from Gellen and they cured within a minute despite the stated time of 2 minutes, so I'm assuming that's the LED lights. The polish was glossy absolutely dry and I tried to dent it as soon as it came out and I couldn't. I'm honestly so impressed.
I found the machine gets quite warm but its more of a comfortable warmth its never hot!

NOTE: My only niggle is the fact that in the main listing of this machine; it states the light turns on automatically by placing my hand on the base plate inside.
My lamp doesn't do this so I may have been sent the basic machine. But I do feel the base plate couldn't be removed if this was the case.

You can cure 4 fingers minus the thumbs or 5 toes; then your ready to go no drying time needed. Some polishes may differ in their timing so you will have to check your manufacture instructions to cure the brand of polish you use to get the best out of them.

I have Gellen and GDI polishes and they look stunning. What do you think?
This beautiful pink is Gellen's number 128 8ml polish; this is one of my alltime EVER pink favorites and that's a big statement for me to make!
But see 13 more colours in my Gellen polish video here!

Obviously depending on your topcoats you may have to wipe the inhibition layer off with gel cleanser right at the end. I now use Naio's Mega gloss topcoat which is a NO WIPE topcoat and Ill never look back its amazing.
My nails are glossy and strong and I rarely ever break them now, I usually end up with backfills where its grown out. My manicures look as good on day 14 as day 1; I'm in so love!

I cannot express what a gorgeous machine this is, its excellent quality, affordable, compact and looks damn good for home or salon use...it really does.

A quick disclaimer
If your just doing UV gel polish its safe enough to do on yours or your family and friends nails, but if your going into nail extensions you could do some real damage to your nails if your not sure what your doing. So please consider doing some nail technology courses and you could gain yourself a really exciting career in the nail industry.

EBoot 7 piece gel nail art brushes Review

I've something for all you nail addicts out there today...no not the hammer and nail but the hand and nail kind.
Ive recently started doing gel/acrylic nails after many years as I'm an ex nail tech so decided I wanted to start doing my own nails again after many years.

So when I was kindly offered these to review I jumped at the chance as I only had a small shorty gel brush from Naio...even though that is very good; sometimes you just want a different size brush for other things.

Packaging
The brushes arrived in a ziplock bag and inside that they came in their own white backed plastic flip over case to keep them in.

The case they come in is a lovely sturdy case to keep in your nail boxes.

Description
The 7 brushes are ideal for the girly girl; as they have the most beautiful pink swirls made of actual acrylic.
You can see here how gorgeous the pink and white swirls are making these a pleasure to use; well they are for me. It wouldn't be the same for normal paint brushes.

Dont be confused with using these for acrylic nails though as they are 'gel or nail art brushes'; and would NOT be suitable for building acrylic nails as they cant soak up the monomers as well. Acrylic brushes are normally made of Kolinsky sable hair and can hold more liquid and are generally longer, rounder and firmer to pat the setting acrylic powder into nail shape.
These are perfectly designed for the more fluid gel extensions with the flat shorter length brushes.

Each brush has its own plastic tube to keep it protected when not in use; however Ive removed mine as you have the case which for me is enough and hasn't been any problems so far.

Each brush is of a different size number 8 and number 10 you will probably use the most; well I do anyway.
 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14.
They are approximately 14cm long.
Number 8 was driving my OCD crazy...I do wish they could have printed these on equally lol.

I have found the numbers printed on the sides have started to rub off; as Ive used them for weeks now and the acetone has removed my numbers, however I tend to know the size I need by looking anyway so its not been a problem.
You can see here they all have a nice size distinction making this set perfect for gel nails- builder layer and base coat and most nail art.

My most used brushes for gels are number 8 and 6, one for builder gel and sculpting and the smaller one when using my Naio ice white for the French manicure look, this brush enables me to add a really neat smile line. I couldn't be without this one now.

Use
I absolutely love this little set of brushes, the size variations have been so useful for me. Ive used them for both nail gel extensions and nail art; Ive lost no hairs which were my main concern with such affordable brushes. I thought I was going to get hairs stuck in my nail tips embedded into the gels...eeep!. But nope, nothing like that so far.

The brush shafts have a nice width to use and are not too thin.

The brushes pick up enough product to use properly too; plus they then clean up easily with acetone, especially with the grip designed in metal.

I always have at least 2 brushes on the go when I'm doing my UV gel nails, you can see here at the bottom of the image above; I have the little green shorty brush that came with my gel set from Naio and I then purchased the Boan rhinestone detailing gel brush, as like a magpie I saw the rhinestones and just had to have it lol!

I also used these for my glitters and pigments; however they didn't pickup my glitters as well as the pigments above. They seem to soak up the dry pigments if that makes sense, but the glitters simply fell off making a mess across my table.

These gorgeous pigments are from the Color Shack Gnarly nails on ebay and you can see here how the pigment sticks so well to the brush hairs, it then paints like a polish across my nails.

See here my finished nails after using the brushes for the pigments.

Opinion
Yes I can highly recommend these brushes for home use and most certainly a backup set if your a professional nail tech. I found these absolutely fine to use and so surprised they didn't molt onto my nail tips. They also look so good in my nail trays and yes that's quite important to me!.

Dont they all look great; Im so happy to be back doing my nails again after all these years. Im now on the lookout for some acrylic brushes in this rose set now as I like them so much.
I have to coordinate don't I girls?

Fotopro Flexible Mini Tripod with universal clip Review and Video + Wimberley Plamp Stake & G

I have something for all you mobile photographers out there; how many times have you needed an extra pair of hands when taking photos or videos...go on I know its a yes.

Well now you have with something that's light and compact from Fotopro. I was kindly offered this mini flexible tripod to share with you all.

So I have added a fun, chatty video so you get to see this little guy in action after the jump.

http://www.fotopro.uk.com/index.php/our-products/coloured-c5/product/116-c5i-green
Fotopro is an award winning global brand that designs, manufactures, and markets a wide range of photographic equipment for professional photographers.

So I was excited to have the wonderful opportunity to work with such a great brand.

What I love about this adorable mini tripod; is the fact you can use multiple devices in it; eg; GoPro's, phones or cameras. So to have a small portable tripod that will fit all of these devices is just genius...thank you Fotopro!

I was excited to have the chance to not only use it for my Samsung S4 phone but also
my GoPro twin the KitVision Escape HD.
(See my KitVision Escape HD review and videos part 1 & Part 2)

I had originally hoped it was going to fit my new Canon Powershot SX720 as it shows that it fits so many Powershot models. However my model is the latest Canon Powershot and its much wider than the other models...sigh...but Im still pleased to be able to use it on my phone and the Escape.

Here is my video review and chatty box opening and 1st impressions, plus I have added some fun footage of trying it with my Plamp family for more height and versatility.

But if you want to find out some more indepth details read on......

Packaging
It arrives in a modern sturdy white cardboard box with sneak peek window; on the back simply shows you how to use it in a few images. You also get the choice of 4 colours. I chose the black as I love all my camera equipment to match.

Inside the box you get the mini tripod all connected together and doesn't it already look pretty cool.

Description
This mini tripod from Fotopro is a portable compact tripod you can keep in your bag or rucksack until you need it. It folds flat perfectly as you see above with the Fotpro logo on the device clip.
This octopus style tripod fits most smartphones, the GoPro and slimmer cameras.

It has universal adaptability to use with many devices with this cellphone clip which you simply pull out and it closes firmly to fit over securing your device...see my video.
Phones up to a 6 inch screens will fit this clip, e.g; the iphone 6, 6s, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge etc.

My Samsung S4 is 7cm in width and it fits securely. In my video Im actually shaking it...very scary moment...but it was completely secure...gulp...phew!!!.

The phone connector is attached to the Gopro connector and in doing so it can be angled backwards or forwards for best viewing or shooting angles.
The GoPro connector will also fit similar cameras like my Kitvision Escape HD and you simply unscrew the phone clip and your left with the GoPro clip...brilliant idea.

TIP: Just remember where you put your phone clip, if your anything like me you'll put it down somewhere and forget where...sigh, well I warned you guys lol!)

The 3 tripod legs have dumpy rubber feet at the end which are super grippy; no slipping across the table now.

The legs have soft foam and engineered plastic material to allow it to be bent and wrapped round things to give more stability as you will see in my video.
The legs themselves feel extremely durable and don't feel they will snap or break anytime soon.

Measurements
Length 8.3 inches (21.5cm) long.
Once seated your device sits at a height of 5.9 inches.
It weighs only 2oz (55g)

Here you get to see both my devices I can use with this tripod.

Using the tripod
I have to say as soon as I got it out the box I was amazed at how light it felt in my hand...that's a good thing! ;-)

My phone fitted easily into the clip and extremely securely too, the slight over-grip holds it securely.

You can see from the back how well the clip hugs the phone. I found the most solid and stable way to use it was to splay out the legs (as in the image above) and you get absolutely no wobble its not moving...super secure!

Fantastic for gaming...okay...Mahjong then lol.....or skyping and conference calls all hands free.

You get to watch my Gadget Girl Videos all hands-free, drink your coffee, snack away and sit back and watch.

Next I fitted my Kitvision Escape into the tripod and because of the GoPro screw fitment its doubly secure and you simply screw it up tightly. It simply becomes one device legs an all!

You then also have a great handle; I love the fact that the foam encased legs makes it a super comfy to control or film manually or carry for long periods of time.

I also want to point out that it also has a small hole to attach it to a wrist strap or attach it to your bag. I personally use its own legs to wrap round my rucksack strap. It looks super cute this way too.

So lets show you how well the legs wrap round anything you find to give amazing hands free versatility.
I loved hiding this in our tree and capturing footage of my puppy up to no good lol! Also good for bird watching, barbecues etc.

Secured onto our fence post to capture anything, wildlife, naughty puppies or even my own video reviews; you have to admit it looks fab!

I also wrapped the tripod around my bird table pole to capture what birds come too and from the bird table.

Next I attached it to my own garden fork as I had a brainwave of being able to stick it in the ground in the garden anywhere if I didn't have anything to secure the legs onto.

The Wimberley Plamps + Fotopro Tripod

It was then I had a LIGHTBULB MOMENT as remembered I had my Plamps; if you've been following my videos you would have seen the Wimberley Plamps I reviewed last month.

What if I wanted to use my phone/GoPro in the tripod but didn't have anything to secure the legs to anything! If you not quite sure what Im rambling on about then please checkout my video as I show you how to set these up.

Here is the Wimberley Stake (review coming soon), a screw driver in the base allows you to stick it in the ground anywhere...see my video!
Then the tripod legs wrap round the stake itself, as you can see here it works perfectly for my phone and the KitVision Escape; you can perch it at the top or round the side of it, anywhere you like.

Next is the Wimberley Plamp G it too has a bendy extension but with clamp on the end; this now allows me to bend it into any position at any height of the Plamp...perfect for keeping off the ground and wildlife watching. You can see here its perfect with both my Escape and the phone.

Both the Fotopro and the Plamps open up being able to photograph and video virtually anywhere; so exciting!!!

Summary
If you haven't guessed yet I absolutely love this little tripod; by itself it gives me hands free photography and video and the bendy legs allows me to attach it to almost anything it can bend round.
Combined with my Plamps it opens up even more options; I'm one happy bunny!

Its light, durable and rugged as well as being excellent quality and the fact it has universal adaptability makes it such a versatile tripod to keep at hand for whenever the photo/video urges takes you.
I wont be without this and its one of my few gadgets if it broke or I lost it I would have to replace it; its an affordable fab little tripod and every mobile photographer NEEDS one of these.
