Dystance; Winters Rising by Mark Tufo Book Review

Dystance Winters Rising by M.R. Tufo

Blurb
From birth to death, The War is all the citizens of Dystance know.

As children it is drilled into their heads that war is the purpose behind all existence. Winter doesn't agree. She's stumbled across remnants of life the way it was before The War began and now she longs to be as free as her ancestors. With help from her best friend Cedar and the boy she is forbidden to love, Tallow. She believes she can do it. Winter can see a life beyond the Pickets, beyond the constant hunger and the threat of death, beyond the war machine.

Can one teenage girl and her dream of a better life really change the whole world?

This is a book for those Dystopian fans out there especially if you are also a Mark Tufo fan. Its quite a change from his Zombie Fallout series I have been reading but its another brilliant, addictive, unputdownable read with the same flow and Mark's great sense of humor spread amongst the pages.

Winter and her friend Cedar at the age of 18 are born and bred either to go to war or to  become breeding machines for the town of Dystance. Winters love interest Tallow is just expected to go to war. They were born in a world without technology or books but a chance discovery changes everything, all their perceptions and ideals about their lives and the world they live in they realize may not be right and there could be more to life.
A secret friend helps prepare them to fight and change their world for the better but as usual there is deceit, cruelty, gore and a touch of romance along the way.
Mark's characters are believable, realistic and always grow fast within the storyline; we grow to love Winter as we watch her discover her inner warrior, but still maintain her compassion for her town. Mark always adds a character with a fab sense of humour and banter and Cedar is a gem; shes tough, funny and I loved her comical nosiness.

Dystance is a very unique Dystopian storyline that Ive never read before; with some references and a special appearance that Mark Tufo fans will love and recognize plus some terrific Tufo twists and turns as always. No I'm not giving this away you need to read the book.

I absolutely loved this compelling Dystopian storyline as we follow this fascinating trio as they fight for their lives in this cruel war. Another brilliant addition to the Tufo library and I hope there will be a book 2 and more coming soon.
